Black Pine is a 4-player online co-op horror survival game set deep in the Appalachian Mountains. Players take on the role of contractors tasked with restoring critical infrastructure—power grids, water pumps, and radar towers—while uncovering the eerie events that led to their collapse. The game blends intense survival mechanics with environmental storytelling, keeping players on edge as they search for resources, complete repairs, and evade lurking threats. Balancing cooperative gameplay with psychological horror elements, Black Pine creates an immersive experience where teamwork is essential not just for survival, but for unraveling the mystery behind the region’s growing unease.

Technical Contributions
I played a key role in shaping Black Pine’s core gameplay systems, leading the technical planning and architecture design for major features such as voice chat, monster AI, save data, and UI/UX. I implemented the real-time voice communication system using Vivox and FMOD, integrating dynamic spatial audio effects to enhance immersion based on player locations. Additionally, I was the primary developer for the game’s UI systems, implementing all major interfaces—including the front-end menu, in-game HUD, and world-space interactions—using Unity’s UI Toolkit. To ensure a seamless player experience, I also designed a robust save data management system, featuring serialization, encryption, and cloud save integration.

Leadership and Collaboration
Beyond development, I drove high-level project discussions, helping to refine scope, prioritize features, and align the team’s goals with release timelines. I led technical reviews to ensure that features were both scalable and maintainable, fostering cross-discipline collaboration between engineering, design, and art teams. By balancing ambitious gameplay mechanics with production constraints, I helped keep development focused and efficient, ensuring that Black Pine delivered a compelling multiplayer horror experience.
